Statement on the Domain Switch of LabNews: Embracing Digital Freedom Across All Our Portals

Dear Readers of LabNews Media LLC,

As the parent company of LabNews.io, Defense-News.io, Pugnalom.io, and AugenAuf.blog, we are excited to share a pivotal development in our mission to deliver independent, evidence-based journalism across life sciences, defense, environmental issues, and critical societal topics. LabNews has recently transitioned its domain from the EU-based lab-news.de to the neutral, US-registered labnews.io. This move is not merely a technical shift but a deliberate step to break free from the increasingly restrictive environment of the European Union, ensuring the long-term protection of our editorial freedom across all four of our portals.

Our Roots and the Challenges in the EU

LabNews Media LLC, headquartered in New Mexico, USA, was founded to provide high-quality, unbiased reporting on critical issues. LabNews.io (launched as lab-news.de in 2023) focuses on life sciences, biotechnology, and digital health; Defense-News.io (launched in 2025) covers defense technology and geopolitics; Pugnalom.io (launched in October 2024) addresses environmental protection, climate change, and renewable energy; and AugenAuf.blog (launched in 2023) delivers incisive commentary on politics, finance, and societal trends. Together, our portals form a network committed to truth, transparency, and fearless inquiry.

However, operating within the EU has become increasingly challenging. In August 2025, our X.com account was suspended at the behest of the EU Commission under the Digital Services Act (DSA), without clear justification. The DSA, criticized by figures like US Vice President J.D. Vance as “authoritarian censorship,” has become a tool to suppress dissenting voices under the guise of combating “disinformation.” Our reporting—whether on the exploitation in medical research, the influence of financial giants like BlackRock on European politics, the collapse of Germany’s solar industry, or questionable defense procurement practices—appears to have crossed the EU’s invisible line. This suspension severed our ability to engage with millions of readers, threatening our mission.

The EU’s regulatory framework, particularly the DSA, poses a direct risk to independent media. As an EU-based domain, lab-news.de was vulnerable to potential hosting restrictions, content blocks, or other bureaucratic interventions. To safeguard our ability to report freely, we had to act decisively.

Why labnews.io? A Commitment to Freedom Across All Portals

The transition to labnews.io reflects our commitment to operate beyond the reach of EU censorship. The .io domain, globally recognized and neutral, is registered under US jurisdiction, benefiting from the robust protections of the First Amendment. As a US-based company, LabNews Media LLC can now ensure that all our portals—LabNews.io, Defense-News.io, Pugnalom.io, and AugenAuf.blog—remain free from regulatory overreach. The former lab-news.de now seamlessly redirects to labnews.io, preserving access to all our content, from analyses of regulatory T-cells in clinical settings to critiques of defense policies or environmental mismanagement.

This move is a bold statement: we are turning our backs on a system that increasingly prioritizes control over open discourse. By aligning all our platforms under a framework that prioritizes free speech, we ensure that our readers in Europe, the US, and beyond can access unfiltered reporting—whether it’s about the fallout of pandemic policies, the geopolitical implications of defense spending, the destruction of renewable energy sectors, or the hidden influence of global finance.
